The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine plans to allow men abroad to update their military records at consular offices and through an electronic cabinet, as it is unrealistic to have territorial military commissariats outside the country.

For men abroad, it is planned to allow updating military registration data at consular centers and in the electronic cabinet. The operation of territorial recruitment centers outside the country is unrealistic. This was stated by the spokesman for the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Dmytro Lazutkin on the air of Radio Liberty, UNN reports.

Details

According to him, the TCC cannot operate in other countries and serve summonses to Ukrainian citizens there.

TCCs will not operate abroad. The Ministry of Defense cannot comment on certain actions of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This (serving summonses abroad - ed.) looks rather unrealistic

- Lazutkin said.

He explained that after the new law on mobilization comes into force, men of military age in Ukraine and abroad will have the opportunity to update their military records within 60 days, including through an electronic cabinet.

He also assured that work is underway to ensure that the men can update their data without having to return to Ukraine.

It is not necessary to go to Ukraine, but if a person wants to defend the homeland, wants to join the Defense Forces, then, of course, it is worth coming to Ukraine... For those who are abroad, it will be possible to do this (update military registration data - ed.) at consular offices, as well as through an electronic cabinet

- said the Defense Ministry spokesman.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has temporarily suspended the acceptance of new applications for consular services from Ukrainian men aged 18-60 abroad, due to the new law on military service and mobilization, which will come into force on May 18, 2024.

The Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security and Intelligence plans to summon representatives of the Foreign Ministry to explain the order to suspend consular services for Ukrainian men abroad.
