Due to Russian missile strikes that damage power plants, Ukraine's energy system is experiencing electricity shortages, leading to consumption restrictions and dependence on emergency aid from European countries.

Today, electricity consumption in Ukraine is growing again. There is still a deficit in the energy system. Ukraine receives emergency aid from Europe. This was reported by NPC Ukrenergo, calling on Ukrainians to consume electricity sparingly, UNN writes.

Consumption and generation

"The power system is still experiencing a shortage of electricity. Due to the damage caused by Russian missile strikes, power plants cannot generate enough electricity to cover all consumer needs," the company said.

Today at 09:30, as indicated, consumption is 3.8% higher than yesterday at the same time. It is indicated that yesterday, April 25, the daily maximum consumption was 5.3% lower than on April 24.

Emergency assistance

"Today, on April 26, Ukrenergo's dispatch center continues to attract emergency assistance from the power systems of European countries," the statement said.

All consumers were urged to conserve electricity. And the industry was urged to maximize electricity imports and use alternative power sources, if available.

Restrictions

"Consumption restrictions are in effect throughout the day in Kharkiv region. In the morning, about 202 thousand household consumers were cut off. Consumption for industry in Kryvyi Rih is also restricted around the clock," the NPC said.

Import and export

Imports: during almost the entire day, except for night hours, from Romania, Slovakia, Poland, Hungary, and Moldova. The total volume is 12,401 MWh, with a maximum capacity of up to 1,547 MW in some hours.

Export: not planned

De-energization

Yesterday, at one of Ukrenergo's substations in the western region, a part of the equipment was switched off by the protection system. Residential and legal consumers were cut off from electricity supply. After 15 minutes, the equipment was put back into operation, and power supply was restored to all consumers.

At night, the protection action disconnected the main overhead line in the western region. There were no power outages. The place of damage has been identified and repair works are underway. There were also short-term interruptions in the operation of two trunk lines in the eastern region at night. The equipment was restored by automatic control.

As of morning, 388 settlements are without electricity. Due to the hostilities: there are new blackouts in Dnipropetrovska, Donetska, Kharkivska oblasts. For technical reasons: there are power outages in Dnipropetrovska oblast.
