Germany hopes that U.S. aid will help fix Ukraine's air defense problems amid intensified Russian attacks.
As noted in the publication, the pressure on the United States is part of a German campaign aimed at forcing NATO and European Union partners to increase assistance to Ukraine in the field of air defense.
Preliminarily, Berlin will also put pressure on European allies, including France and Italy, to see what they can do.
Scholz's policy is in fact a role reversal for Germany, which has often been criticized for delaying the transfer of weapons to Ukraine after the full-scale invasion of Russia.
Earlier, the head of the German government resisted the idea of giving Ukraine Taurus missiles , but he also actually led attempts to send more Patriot and other air defense systems to Ukraine.

It is noted that last week the chancellor said that Germany would send a third Patriot battery, and six more are planned to be sent by the allies.
Bloomberg noted that for the German army, three Patriots would make up a quarter of its arsenal, which is much more significant than for the United States. Berlin is also calling for other equipment to be transferred to Kyiv, including Samp/T surface-to-air systems, NASAMS and Hawk missiles, and Iris-T systems.
For countries that are unable to strengthen their assistance by transferring air defense systems, Germany offers to contribute to financing aid packages for Ukraine.
